Staddy consolidate with win to stay top

THE Staddy consolidated their position at the top of the Plymouth City Super League table with a 9-2 victory at Hyde Park but the hosts had some consolation when Mike Connell’s checkout of 145 was not bettered.

Porters B made it 11 wins from as many starts with an 11-0 whitewash of The Fawn but still find themselves seven points off the pace.

John Mann produced yet another good performance and top scored with 14 throws of a ton or more which included outshots of 141 and 100 in a 3-1 singles victory.

A 15-darter in a 3-0 win by Dave Pethick was the highlight of Octagon Social Club’s 9-2 victory over Maritime A, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Maritime B when hosting Kings Arms B.

Plymptons Cons B secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer against Victoria while St Levan Inn produced arguably their best performance of the season to inflict on Clifton B an 11-0 whitewash.

TOP CHECKOUT: Martyn Down set a new mark for the season’s top checkout when achieving the best possible finish of 170 in week seven.

Plympton Cons A returned from Devonport with an 8-3 victory after defeating Ker St Social Club, having had Dave Collins win his singles game 3-1, aided by a 14-darter.

There was also a 14-darter for Ker St’s Paul Tackle before going on to victory in three straight legs.

Compton Social Club defeated Ships Tavern 7-4 while The Albemarle and Porters A both won by the narrowest of margins against Clifton A and Kings Arms A respectively.

Notable outshots were delivered by Jamie Otterside (120), Warren Gordon (105) and Mark Williams (100).

Alfie Ford (30.06) earned the plaudits in week six with a 3-0 singles victory in 16, 18 and 16 while Paul Carpenter posted outshots of 111 and the week’s highest of 158.

A new mark for the season’s best checkout came in week seven when Martyn Down needed just three darts to finish from 170.

Week eight saw Warren Gordon as the talisman for The Staddy, winning 3-0 in 15, 16 and 17 for a 31.31 average while team mate Dave Algar had the highest checkout of 129.

Dave Collins, for Cons A, recorded no fewer than 18 ton plus scores in a 9-2 victory against Clifton A.

Fred Lamerton posted the highest checkout in week nine when finishing at the first time of asking from 142.
