Porters A challenge leaders for top spot

PORTERS A have moved to within one point of the Plymouth and District Friday League leaders after taking all 13 points against a depleted Royal Naval Arms B side.

The Barbican outfit also won the week’s highest checkout award when, in winning his singles, Alex Turner achieved the only ton-plus checkout recorded with a mark of 108.

Kings Tamerton CC remain top after an 11-2 defeat of Stoke Bar & Grill while an identical win in double figures was also achieved by The Grenville on their visit to Queens Dock.

BY GEORGE: Porters C won the last two singles of their match to edge it 7-6, including a solid victory from George Tucker.

City Social defeated The Fawn 10-3, buoyed by a 37-dart treble success for Glynn Wells, Shaun Williams and Jordan Grimshaw (27.05).

Porters C came from behind and clinched the last two singles through George Tucker and Al Martin for a win by the narrowest of margins against Waterloo B.

Indian Inn A also had to settle for a 7-6 victory, despite leading Waterloo A 4-1, while Steam Packet A won 8-5 on their visit to Indian Inn B.

Mike Parker (26.34) caught the eye when winning his singles in 38 but finished up on the wrong end of an 8-5 scoreline when Jolly Miller were beaten away at Octagon Social Club.

Royal Naval Arms A triumphed 11-2 when hosting Porters B and had Andy Bates (31.28) recording the week’s top game when securing his singles in 32.

The feat was also equaled in a doubles game by Matt Thompson and Neal Hotchkiss, both hitting a maximum in the leg, inspiring Steam Packet B to a 9-4 success against Maritime B.

Brookside had their progress halted when they went down 8-5 at home to The Tradesman.
