October 27, 2017

PLYMOUTH seems to have a rich abundance of emerging youth players as another 15-year-old comes to the fore.

Following in the footsteps of his Devon county youth team-mate Keelan Kay, Jordan Grimshaw caught the eye in the Monday Premier League when he achieved the week’s highest checkout.

In winning his singles 3-2, which enabled City Social to edge out Brookside B 6-5, Grimshaw finished at the first time of asking from 156, a mark that was not bettered.

TOP CHECKOUT: Jordan Grimshaw, at just 15 years of age, claims the week's highest checkout in the Monday Premier League with a kill of 156.

Maritime A secured all 11 points against Ford Hotel, just one of two teams to win in double figures, as they stretched their lead to six points.

Porters B won 7-4 away at Steam Packet A, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Firkin Scholar when hosting Bluebird.

Brian Lumsden hit a brace of 180s and Mark Hatherley impressed in his singles when winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 14.

Indian Inn B, who had lost 11 of their previous 13 fixtures, returned to winning ways with a vengeance and defeated Prince Maurice B 10-1.

Kieran Burns (100x13) was prominent for Maritime B in their 7-4 victory against Octagon Social Club while Brookside A also achieved a 7-4 success when hosting Indian Inn A.

Gary Phillips top scored with 15 throws of a ton more and Ryan Harris secured a leg in 13 as he edged out Danny Bull 3-2 in the individual phases.

Shakespeare went from holding a 3-0 advantage away at Prince Maurice A to going 5-4 behind, only to recover and secure the last two points and the match, by the narrowest of margins.

Notable checkouts from around the boards were delivered by: Glyn Wells (132), Gary Phillips (121), Jerry Jewell (116), Ryan Harris (115), Nick Sanders (107), Shaune Kittle (106), Phil Hoskins (100), Darren Collis (100).
