Three teams only retain unbeaten tag

October 27, 2017

TWO teams lost for the first time in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League, leaving three with an unbeaten record, just four weeks into a new campaign.

The top two sides both won in double figures but it’s Porters Patriots, after an 11-0 whitewash of Cherry Tree, that boast a four-point lead over the chasing pack.

They hit no fewer than 62 scores of a ton or more in their demolition of the Pennycross outfit and had five players hitting more than 10 tons each.

Maritime Marauders are in second spot and in winning 10-1 away at Duchy of Cornwall, won all six singles dropping just two legs.

PLAUDITS: Earning the plaudits for Porters Pretenders was Jon Matlock who hit the week's highest finish of 156 before winning the last singles to give his side a 6-5 win.

Fawn A took maximum points from their visit to Waterloo while Maritime Musketeers, in beating The Clifton, dropped just the single point which was a win for Brian Bibik.

Kieran Burns (100x12) impressed as Falstaff defeated Kings Arms 7-4 while Brookside returned from City Social with a 9-2 victory.

Octagon Social Club lost for the first time when they were edged out 6-5 by Porters Pretenders in a match that produced 110 throws of a ton or more.

Earning the plaudits was Jon Matlock for Porters who, after achieving the week’s top checkout of 156 in a doubles victory, he clinched the 11th point in his singles to give Porters the win.

Fred Goldsmith (100x14) caught the eye as Fawn B overcame Indian Inn 8-3 while Shaun Dring (100x15) was prominent for Maritime Misfits when they defeated Torpoint Cons 7-4 for their first reverse of the campaign.

Plympton Cons remain unbeaten after winning 9-2 against Compton with Dave Collins taking out a 14-dart leg before going on to a 3-1 singles success.
