No change after leading duo both win 9-4

November 1, 2017

THERE is no change at the top of the Plymouth and District Friday League table after the leading two teams both by a 9-4 margin.

Tabletoppers Porters A maintained their seven-point advantage when defeating Windmill but the Leigham side had Mark Shears (30.33) catching the eye when winning his singles in 33.

Second placed Kings Tamerton CC defeated Maritime B and there were also 9-4 victories for both The Tradesman and GWRSA (Laira) on their visits to Waterloo C and Maritime A respectively.

GOOD WIN: Paul Barclay banked a good win for Octagon Social Club only to see his side edged out 7-6 when Fawn secured the last three singles.

Indian Inn A took maximum points from Queens Dock who remain in the bottom two while a win in double figures for Waterloo A enabled them to finish with an 11-2 success when hosting Royal Naval Arms B.

A double’s win in 35 (28.60) for Andy Bates and Dan Beeney was the was highlight of Royal Naval Arms A’s 11-2 victory when hosting Waterloo B while a well contested fixture at Octagon Social Club saw the hosts edged out by The Fawn.

Mark Sargeant brought the teams level at 4-4 with a win in 28 (35.75) but Octagon pressed ahead again to make it 6-4, aided by a good win from Paul Barclay, only for The Fawn to come from behind for the second time and win the last three singles for a 7-6 victory.

Jon Matlock and Jaime Sandford won their doubles game in 36 (27.86) which helped Porters B into a 5-2 advantage, but City Social took control of the individual phases and won five of the six which gave them a win by the narrowest of margins.

Matt Thompson (27.86) took his singles in 36 as Steam Packet B won 7-4 away at Brookside but the hosts had Rio Trelease registering the top checkout of the week when finishing from 152.

The only other ton-plus outshots were delivered by Kevin Walker (110) and Paul Hoare (101).
