Patriots outstanding as they extend lead

November 4, 2017

PORTERS Patriots showed outstanding form in their 10-1 drubbing of Fawn A, extending their lead at the top of the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League to eight points, whilst recording no fewer than 67 ton plus scores including 21 throws of 140.

Robbie Bisgrove clinched a 13-dart leg and Antony Hayman won 3-0 aided by a 15-darter which he finished with an outshot of 120.

John Mann (100x14) was also prominent and checked out a 15-dart leg with the week’s top outshot of 127.

Maritime Marauders came close to losing their unbeaten record but won the last three singles to prevail by the narrowest of margins.

15-DARTER: Antony Hayman finished a 15-dart leg with a kill of 120, as Porters Patriots extended their lead at the top of the table.

Their 6-5 victory against Falstaff produced eight maximum scores, two of which were executed by Jock Brown for the Southway side.

Tex Pearce was a 3-0 winner for Maritime which included a leg in 13 and was well supported by Mike Pearce (25.47) who also won in three straight legs.

At the bottom end of the table, Clifton won for the first time when defeating fellow strugglers Duchy of Cornwall by a 9-2 margin while Fawn B won 7-4 on their travels to Porters Pretenders.

Glyn Wells inspired City Social to a 7-4 victory at Cherry Tree and won his singles in 11, 17 and 21 to post a 30.67 average.

Maritime Musketeers secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer from their visit to Compton Social Club and were buoyed by a solid performance from Lee Ager (27.37) who won in 17, 17 and 21.

Plympton Cons made the journey to Torpoint Cons worthwhile after returning with a 9-2 victory, receiving good service from Dave Collins and Paul Bowen who equally shared a 30-ton haul.

Indian Inn were unlucky not to get the result when hosting Maritime Misfits but credit to both sides who recorded 99 ton plus scores including four maximums.

Dan Scott (100x16) impressed for the misfits and Indian came from a 5-3 deficit to level at 5-5, only to lose the decider when Dan Johnson just got the better of Marcus Weetman after playing all five legs.
