Plymouth players aid Cornwall to victory

CORNWALL had a resounding 26-10 victory when hosting Dorset in the British Inter County Championships and top the division one table with a three-point advantage.

Plymouth darts players were once again at the fore and Teresa Brookshaw (17.47) helped the Ladies B side to a 4-2 victory when she clinched the lady-of-the-match award after having been pushed the full five legs.

Antony Hayman (23.86), who played 59 times for Devon with 34 victories, made his Cornwall debut for the Men’s B side and emerged a 3-0 winner, aided by a leg in 18, which he finished with a checkout of 100.

TOP LADY: Teresa Brookshaw won the lady-of-the-match award for Cornwall B as the Duchy squad go top of division one after a resounding 26-10 defeating of Dorset.

Fred Goldsmith (22.93) also gave a good account of himself when emerging with a 3-1 victory as Cornwall finished the first day with a resounding 14-4 lead.

The Ladies A side pushed the scoreline along to 19-5 when winning 5-1 before the Men’s A side won 7-5.

John Mann (25.70) clinched the first encounter despite trailing 2-0 and 3-2, finally coming through by the odd leg in seven.

Dorset rallied to take five from the next seven, but Cornwall won the last four sets including a man-of-the-match performance from Kevin Dunstan (28.33), who notched three maximums in a 4-1 win, taking legs in 17, 21, 14, and 17.
