Martitime A title favourites after win against rivals

December 8, 2017

MARITIME A showed their title credentials when they defeated their Monday Premier League rivals for the second time in the campaign, preserving their winning run of 19 matches.

They were convincing 8-3 winners away at Porters A and now command a lead of nine points at the top of the table.

The fixture produced six maximum scores, three of which were recorded by Maritime’s Scott Hutchinson while for Porters, John Mann won 3-1 in 19, 19 and 16 and Scott Wapshott (100x13) top scored.

YOUNG TALENT: Fifteen-year-old Jordan Grimshaw saved City Social from a whitewash when he emerged as their only winner in a 10-1 defeat by Firkin Scholar.

Octagon Social Club defeated Brookside B 10-1, dropping just two legs in the individual phases while there were 7-4 victories for both Steam Packet and Prince Maurice A against Prince Maurice B and Steam Packet B respectively.

Firkin Scholar took all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when hosting City Social but the point that evaded them was won by 15-year-old Jordan Grimshaw.

Maritime B won a close encounter by the odd game of 11 when edging out Indian B while Indian A defeated Porters B 9-2 and had Mike Whatley emerging a 3-0 winner with his best legs being won in 17 and 18.

Shakespeare edged a close game against Bluebird 6-5 while Brookside A dominated their fixture when hosting Ford Hotel and plundered all 11 points.

Keelan Kay (27.33) was a 3-0 winner in 16, 17 and 22 and Gary Phillips threw the week’s highest checkout with a mark of 129.

Other notable outshots came from: Billy Evans (122), Michelle Davis (118), Andrew Nation (107), Darren Collis (106), Danny Bull (105), Quinton Taylor (100).
