Pedigree shown by league leaders who hit 70 tons

PORTERS Patriots showed their pedigree when recording no fewer than 70 throws of a ton or more in defeating City Social 9-2 but Social played their part in an absorbing fixture that also produced six ton plus checkouts.

Andy Bates emerged a 3-1 winner in 14, 15 and 17 and top scored with 19 ton plus throws which included outshots of 120 and 129 and was well supported by Antony Hayman (100x15).

Glynn Wells (180x2) was outstanding throughout for Social and in winning 3-0 in 14, 15 and 16 for a single dart average of 33.40, he inflicted on John Mann his first defeat of the season.

Mike Brookshaw (100x12) caught the eye for Indian in their 8-3 victory at Fawn A while Porters Pretenders had to win the last two singles to prevail 6-5 at Brewery Tap.

FIRST DEFEAT: Glynn Wells inflicted on John Mann his first defeat of the season when he beat him 3-0 in 14, 15 and 16 for a single dart average of 33.40.

Trailing 5-4, Jon Matlock won 3-1, aided by a leg in 14 before a 3-0 victory for Mark Shears gave the Barbican side their success.

Torpoint Cons won 7-4 away at Kings Arms and had Lee Rodmell (100x14) as their leading marksman while in the best singles of the fixture, Paul Hendy pushed Cons’ Neil Reid the full distance which was eventually won by Reid after achieving outshots of 104 and 157.

Maritime Marauders restricted Compton Social Club to a single point and had Mike Pearce winning 3-2 in 16, 19 and 19.

Jason Pinkerton was also on target with two 180s while Dan Puleston hit outshots of 100 and 136.

Plympton Cons were also 10-1 winners away at The Clifton and had Paul Bowen, Steve Hiscox and John Donald clinching their treble in 29 for a 27.62 average.

Maximum points were achieved by Maritime Misfits from their visit to the Duchy of Cornwall, buoyed by a 3-0 victory for Scott Hutchinson, aided by a leg in 15 and another success for Billy Evans (27.83) who emerged a 3-0 winner in 16, 20 and 18.

Fawn B came from behind to edge out The Falstaff 6-5 while Octagon Social Club whitewashed Waterloo Inn, winning all six singles in three straight legs.

Kelvin Rowe hit an 11-dart leg before going on to a 3-1 singles success and his Brookside team mate Gary Phillips notched two maximums which came in an 8-3 defeat of Maritime Musketeers.
