Devon's premier division status hanging by a thread

THERE seems to be no quick fix to Devon’s poor run of form in the British Inter County Championships campaign after they suffered a disappointing 24-12 defeat away at Lincolnshire.

Their premier division status hangs by a thread after their latest defeat keeps them at the foot of the table, no fewer than 15 points from safety.

Devon’s Ladies’ B side battled well to achieve a 3-3 draw which started with Anna Johnson (16.68) emerging a 3-1 winner, aided by a checkout of 109.

BOOST: Paul Palmer gave Devon a boost when winning 4-0, aided by a checkout of 115 .

Chrissie Kinnaird (18.56) returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory while Jodie Hawton (15.79) earned her side a share of the spoils when battling for a win after being taken the full five legs.

Paul Palmer (25.37) gave Devon a boost when he emerged a 4-0 winner, taking the opening leg in 15 when finishing from 115, followed by a 4-1 success from Andrew Denning (19.67).

Jason Pinkerton (24.09) shared the first six legs of his encounter before winning the decider in 18 with an outshot of 114 followed by a 4-2 victory from Darren Collis (23.92).

That was four victories from the first six sets putting Devon into a 7-5 lead before the hosts took the last six to take an 11-7 advantage into the second day.

Unfortunately, Devon’s hopes failed to improve as the Ladies’ A team went down 4-2 with only Cat Callard (21.14) and Maria O’Brien (22.12) winning after both having to go the full five legs.

More despair followed when the Men’s A team were beaten by a convincing 9-3 margin.

Matt Dickinson (29.38) showed good form when winning 4-1 in 17, 13 16 and 19 followed by a 4-3 success for Ben Chamberlain (26.31) and a 4-1 win by Glyn Wells (24.06).
