Bad weather disrupted first week of P&D Friday season

THE first week of the new Plymouth and District Friday League season was disrupted due to the adverse weather with only eight of the original 13 fixtures taking place.

Of those that did brave the elements, Kings Tamerton CC won 13-0 when hosting City Social B and RN Arms A also secured maximum points against City Social C.

The Keyham side also recorded the week’s top game when Andy Bates and Ant Pearn won their doubles in 29 (34.52) but, having thrown seven ton plus scores in as many visits could, with a little more luck, have won in 26.

29-DART DOUBLES WIN: Andy Bates played his part in a 29-dart doubles victory with Ant Pearn which has set a mark for the season's top game in the Plymouth and District Friday Lge.

The top checkout of the opening week was a kill of 140 from Ryan Harris when he clinched the 13th and decisive point which enabled Brookside to win by the narrowest of margins away at Bull and Bush.

Kings Tamerton CC followed their 13-0 rout with an 11-2 success away at Jolly Miller, aided by an outshot of 112, from John Brownlow and are the early leaders after the first two rounds.

Their victory was enhanced by a 34-dart (29.44) treble success for John Brownlow, Ralph Lancaster and Paul Sanders.

Royal Naval Arms A are just two points off the pace in second place following their 9-4 victory away at Dinky Diner A and had Andy Bates recording a brace of 180s and Ant Pearn achieving the week’s top outshot of 139.

Octagon Social Club won by the narrowest of margins away at Brewery Tap A but not before Ant Hayman (31.28) for the hosts, was a singles winner in 32 after having achieved seven ton-plus throws from his first eight visits.

The only other team with two straight victories is The Fawn who followed up their 12-1 win against Royal Naval Arms B in the opening week with a 6-5 victory at Queens Dock.
