Packet B put in good performance against leaders

STEAM Packet B put in a better performance than their Monday Premier League position would suggest and were only defeated by the odd game in 11 when hosting league leaders Porters B.

Quinton Taylor was their talisman and he top scored with 15 throws of a ton or more which included two maximums and a checkout of 129.

John Mann (27.33) caught the eye for Porters B with a solid 3-0 victory in 18, 18 and 19 while Maritime A moved to within three points of top spot when winning 8-3 at Ford Hotel.

Rich Coombs was on target with 11 ton plus scores, including a brace of 180s, but finished up on the wrong end of a 7-4 scoreline when Brookside C were defeated by Prince Maurice A.

VINTAGE: Eddy Bull showed vintage form for Indian Inn A when finishing at the first time of asking from 131.

Scott Lawrey (100x15) inspired Brookside A to an 8-3 victory away at Indian Inn A while Maritime B won by the narrowest of margins away at Octagon Social Club.

Firkin Scholar triumphed 9-2 on their visit to Bluebird and in winning his singles 3-0, Mark Hatherley posted checkouts of 115 and 113.

Brookside B secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when they hosted City Social while Prince Maurice B made a good come back against Indian Inn B and won four of the last five singles to prevail by the narrowest of margins.

Porters B defeated Steam Packet A 7-4 and had Andy Bates top scoring with 11 ton plus throws which included the week’s highest outshot of 149.

Also on target were: Glenn Halford (118), Dan Hurley (111), Scott Hutchinson (110), Nathan Tomas (106).
