Patriots revel with an unassailable lead of 43 points

PORTERS Patriots pushed their advantage to an unassailable 43 points at the top of the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League after taking all but one of the 11 points that were on offer away at Kings Arms.

They amassed no fewer than 67 scores of a ton or more along the way, 30 of them being equally shared by John Mann and Malcolm Johns.

Maritime Musketeers secured themselves victory by a 10-1 margin when they visited Duchy of Cornwall while Maritime Marauders inflicted on Waterloo an 11-0 drubbing, the highlight of which was a 3-0 victory for Dave Matthews (26.84) in 18, 20 and 18.

GREAT SCOTT: Maritime Misfits had Scott Hutchinson winning them the match away at Porters Pretenders when he secured the decisive 11th point with a 3-2 victory over Mark Shears.

City Social also won on the road when they triumphed 8-3 at Fawn A.

Glynn Wells (100x14) top scored and Maria O’Brien emerged a 3-0 winner, aided by a leg in 15 which she finished with a kill of 114.

Steve Packer inspired Octagon Social Club to an 8-3 victory at Brewery Tap with two scores of 180 and in winning his singles by a 3-1 margin, completed a 15-dart leg when checking out from 108.

Brookside B defeated Fawn B 9-2 in a fixture that saw seven maximum scores recorded, two of which came from Kelvin Rowe in a 15-ton haul.

Despite leading 5-0, Plympton Cons had to settle for a 6-5 victory away at Indian Inn after five of the six singles went to the hosts, for the loss of just four legs, with only Paul Bowen (100x14) successful for the visitors.

A 3-0 victory from Neil Edwards, which included a 14-dart leg, helped Compton to draw level at 5-5, before Al Ewing won them the match with a 3-0 victory for the decisive 11th point away at Torpoint Cons.

Another close encounter saw Maritime Misfits edge out Porters Pretenders 6-5 in a keenly contested fixture which saw six maximum scores recorded.

Misfits came back from a 3-1 deficit to level at 5-5 before Scott Hutchinson (100x17) defeated Mark Shears 3-2 with the two players hitting legs in 15 and 14 respectively.

The match also produced the week’s highest checkout when Dan Johnson obliged with a kill of 130 while also on target were: Andrew Nation (120), Dan Brazier (106), Dave Matthews (103), Paul Flower (101).
