Patriots show title-winning form, recording 61 tons

PORTERS Patriots showed title winning form when, in beating Duchy of Cornwall 10-1 in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League, they recorded no fewer than 61 scores of a ton or more.

They began with an excellent treble’s win in 21 darts when John Mann, Andy Bates and Robbie Bisgrove delivered for a 38.14 average and Mann continued his good form when posting outshots of 106, 101 and 100.

The one point that eluded them was won by Jodie Hawton who defeated Andrew Nation 3-2, aided by two scores of 180.

TOP CHECKOUT: Kelvin Rowe equalled the week's top checkout helping Brookside to consolidate the second-placed berth behind runaway leaders Porters Patriots.

Brookside consolidated second spot with a 10-1 victory away at Compton Social Club in a fixture that saw six maximum scores recorded which included a brace each for Kelvin Rowe and Scott Lawrey.

Rowe earned the plaudits further, when he equalled the week’s top checkout of 118.

The same mark was also achieved by Ralph Lancaster, which came in Octagon’s 7-4 victory against Maritime Marauders.

They also had Steve Packer hitting a 15-dart leg in a 3-0 singles success and Alfie Ford (100x14) as their leading marksman.

Maritime Musketeers triumphed 7-4 when hosting Indian Inn and had Pete Holland (100x14) top scoring with Mike Whatley (100x13) replying for the visitors while Andy Malinowski (100x12) caught the eye as Plympton Cons won 9-2 against Brewery Tap.

Maritime Misfits overcame Fawn A 8-3 in a fixture that saw six maximum scores recorded, no fewer than three being served by up Billy Evans, all coming in a 3-0 singles win, aided by legs in 17 and 15.

Lewis Dare notched two 180s and a 15-darter before going on to a 3-0 single’s win, inspiring Falstaff to a 10-1 victory away at Waterloo Inn.

Fawn B won a well contested fixture by the narrowest of margins when they hosted Kings Arms and gained the decisive sixth point through Lee Hellings (26.84), who emerged a 3-0 winner in 20, 18 and 18.

Porters Pretenders returned from Torpoint Cons with an 8-3 victory and had Jon Matlock winning 3-2, aided by two maximum scores.

Notable outshots from across the boards were achieved by: Steve Packer (116), Lewis Dare (116), Louis Yates (106), Harry Harrison (105), Steve Ebsworth (100).
