Maria attains top average inspiring St Levan to victory

MARIA O’Brien deservedly earned the plaudits in the Plymouth City Super League when, inspiring St Levan Inn to victory away at Kings Arms B, she achieved the week’s top individual average.

With her side winning 5-3, the England international secured her singles in 14, 18 and 18 for a superb single dart average of 30.06 and she also top scored with 12 throws of a ton or more which included an outshot of 116.

That performance ensured St Levan of the team win, before the hosts went on to take the last two singles to eventually go down by the odd game of 11.

TOP AVERAGE: Maria O'Brien achieved a single dart average of 30.06, with a 3-0 victory in 14,18 and 18 as St Levan Inn won 6-5 on their visit to Kings Arms B.

Porters B strengthened their championship claims with an 11-0 victory against Victoria, aided by a checkout of 102 from Mike Beard in a 3-0 singles success, extending their advantage at the top of the table to 12 points.

The Staddy, in second place, defeated Dartsworld 7-4 and of the six maximums recorded, Dave Algar notched three and Tony Gordon, a brace.

Marc Cresswell was also on target for the winners with a kill of 114 while Paul Goundry took out a finish of 110 for Dartsworld.

Ker St Social Club went from leading 4-1 to trailing The Fawn 5-4, but secured the last two singles to win by the narrowest of margins while Plympton Cons A won 9-2 when hosting Clifton B.

Compton Social Club returned from The Albemarle with a 7-4 victory while Ships Tavern produced one of their best performances of the season to claim all but one of the 11 points that were on offer from their visit at Porters A.

Mark Bell top scored with 11 throws of a ton or more and Roger Backway was on target with an outshot of 143.

The week’s highest finish was claimed by Neil White (pictured left) who caught the eye in Maritime B’s 7-4 win at Hyde Park when checking out at the first time of asking from 152.

Plympton Cons B were 9-2 winners away at Clifton A and were given a boost as early as the second treble when Steve Hiscox, Andy Bond and Mike Harding (30.33) won in 33 darts.

Harding also caught the eye when he finished the match with a total of three maximum scores.

Octagon Social Club were always in command when hosting Kings Arms and won 9-2 with good input from their top scorers Steve Packer and Alfie Ford who both hit 11 ton plus throws as did Dan Hill for the Oreston side.
