STEAM Packet inflicted on the Plymouth and District Friday League leaders only their second defeat of the season, but Kings Tamerton CC have now lost their big advantage they had over the chasing pack.
The Packet duet of Matt Thompson and Neal Hotchkiss (30.33) clinched their doubles in 33 to help put the Devonport side 5-2 up, only for the table-toppers to respond by taking the next three.
But it was the deadly duo of Thompson and Hotchkiss who again came to the fore and clinched the match for Packet when they both won their singles before Del Cole won the last for Kings Tamerton.
Royal Naval Arms A took all 13 points at Bull and Bush’s expense and have now moved to within eight points of the leaders with the advantage of a match in hand.

Indian Inn A won 8-5 away at City Social C and had Paul Gavican (100x12) top scoring and Bryan Hodgins making a kill of 114 while an outshot of 105, executed by Shaun Northcott, was the highlight of Indian B’s 12-1 victory against City Social B.
Martin Wright recorded the week’s highest checkout when finishing at the first time of asking from 118 but ended up on the wrong end of an 11-2 scoreline when Brookside were defeated at Jolly Miller.
Porters defeated Queens Dock 10-3 while Weston Mill Oak Villa, who had Paul Nash checking out from 116, overcame Royal Naval Arms B 8-5.
The Dinky Diner derby match was won by the A team when they defeated their stablemates 9-4 while The Fawn won 8-5 on their visit to Waterloo Inn.
Brewery Tap A overcame Railway Inn 11-2 and were inspired once again by Antony Hayman (33.37).
The marksman clinched his singles in 30 darts when he finished at the first time of asking from 104 and also top scored with 15 throws throughout of a ton or more.
The two remaining matches were both won by the narrowest of margins when Octagon Social Club and Pennycross SC won 7-6 against The Windmill and The Tradesman respectively.
