Leaders consolidate their position with 13-0 whitewash

KINGS Tamerton CC were the week’s biggest winners in the Plymouth and District Friday League and consolidated their position at the top of the table with a 13-0 whitewash of Bull and Bush, in a fixture that saw five maximum scores recorded.

Second placed Royal Naval Arms A defeated Pennycross Social Club 9-4 and had Andy Bates and Ant Pearn (28.60) clinching their doubles games in 35.

City Social A dropped just a single point in disposing of Dinky Diner B, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by The Windmill when hosting Brewery Tap B.

DECISIVE: Dave Wyatt won Octagon a close match against Indian Inn A when he clinched the 13th and decisive point for a 7-6 victory.

The highlight of the Leigham side’s 12-1 success was a 33-dart singles victory for Mark Shears (30.33) which he finished with a checkout of 112.

Indian Inn B made a good recovery against Weston Mill Oak Villa and won the last four singles to prevail 8-5 while Octagon Social Club edged out Indian Inn A 7-6 in an entertaining fixture.

Octagon led 6-3, but Indian Inn came back from the brink to level through Steve Ebsworth (27.05), Paul Gavican (26.34) and Tony Birch, only to lose the 13th and decisive point when Dave Wyatt defeated Bryan Hodgins for an Octagon victory.

Dinky Diner A defeated Brookside Social Club 9-4 while Phil Taylor (100x11) showed good form for Steam Packet in their 11-2 defeat of Railway Inn.

Waterloo edged out Queen Dock by the narrowest of margins while City Social C won the bragging rights against City Social B when they won the derby match 11-2.

Peter James was on target with the week’s highest checkout of 133 and team mate Alex Turner (27.81) won in 36 which laid the foundations for a comprehensive 11-2 Brewery Tap A victory against visitors Jolly Miller.
