Naval Arms make their move to challenge for top spot

ROYAL Naval Arms A have moved to within three points of the Plymouth and District Friday League leaders after a 13-0 drubbing of City Social B.

 

The fixture ended in style when, in the last singles of the match, Matt Abbott closed proceedings with the week’s highest checkout of 150.

 

Table toppers Kings Tamerton CC defeated Indian Inn A 8-5 and the same winning scoreline was also achieved by Dinky Diner A and The Fawn against Weston Mill Oak Villa and Brewery Tap B respectively.

 

 NO FLASH IN THE PAN: Indian Inn's Mark Hatherley showed his finishing prowess and hit checkouts of 105 and 114 in their victory over Brewery Tap.

 

The Windmill returned to winning ways and defeated Railway Inn 9-4 with Mark Shears (100x11) as their leading marksman while there were victories in double figures for The Tradesman (12-1), City Social A (12-1) and Octagon Social Club (11-2).

 

Porters won by the narrowest of margins away at Waterloo Inn 7-6, despite holding a 4-0 advantage, while Indian Inn B halted Brewery Tap’s progress when beating them 8-5.

 

Mark Hatherley impressed for the winners, top scoring with 12 throws of a ton or more which included outshots of 105 and 114 while Tap’s Antony Hayman (100x11) recorded two maximums and kept his place at the top of the individual table with a solid singles victory.

 

Steam Packet remain in third spot after an 11-2 defeat of Brookside, the highlight being a 32-dart doubles victory (31.28) for Phil Taylor and George Beckett.

 

Notable outshots were achieved by Chris Lancaster (112), Mike O’Brien (105), Ryan Ring (102), Alex Turner (100).
