Royal Naval Arms A keep up the pressure on leaders

August 17, 2018

ROYAL Naval Arms A remain just behind the Plymouth and District Friday League leaders in second spot, still with a game in hand, after defeating Jolly Miller 8-5, in a fixture that produced six maximum scores.

Andy Bates (below) notched two 180s from an 11-ton haul and played his part in a 32-dart doubles victory with Ant Pearn (31.28).

Tabletoppers Kings Tamerton Community Centre won 11-2 away at Railway Inn while in a much closer fixture, Brewery Tap B edged out Dinky Diner B by the narrowest of margins.

City Social A secured all 13 points from their visit to Queens Dock and there was also a maximum points win for Steam Packet who were successful away at City Social B.

Octagon Social Club returned from Brookside Social Club with an 8-5 victory, the highlight being a 39-dart trebles victory for Ryan Ring, Dave Wyatt and Paddy Archibald (25.67).

The Windmill were pushed the full distance by Pennycross SC before winning 7-6 while The Tradesman and Weston Mill Oak Villa both won 10-3 against Dinky Diner A and Waterloo Inn respectively.

The Fawn defeated Indian Inn B 9-4 but there was a win for their stablemates Indian Inn A, who overcame Bull and Bush 11-2.

They had Mike Whatley (26.34) winning his individual game in 38 and Bryan Hodgins’ checkout of 98 was surprisingly the best of the week.

Brewery Tap A edged out City Social C 7-6, after trailing 4-1.

They began their revival with a 36-dart doubles victory from Alex Turner and John Carr (27.81) and at 6-6, Antony Hayman (180x2) secured the winning point.
