Ant makes Hay with five maximums in Top 20 league

ANTONY Hayman (below) earned the plaudits in week five of the Porters Function Room 501 Top League when he hit no fewer than five 180s, four of the maximums coming in a 3-0 singles victory which also included a leg in 12.

His feat inspired Porters Patriots to an 11-0 win away at Compton Social Club, a victory which puts them in joint second spot, just one point off the pace.

Fawn B are the current leaders, albeit by a single point, after they emerged 7-4 winners away at Indian Inn while in fourth place, but only two points behind the leaders are Maritime Marauders.

They took maximum points when hosting Waterloo Inn and had Shaun Dring on target with a brace of 180s.

Victory A had Gary Phillips (100x14) top scoring in their 7-4 defeat of Maritime Governors while Fawn A won a close encounter by the narrowest of margins when hosting Cherry Tree.

The Office won 7-4 away at Octagon Social Club and were buoyed by a solid showing from Paul Gavican (100x16) while team mate Simon Stevenson hit two maximums.

Alfie Ford was prominent for Octagon though, hitting three 180s and winning his singles 3-1, aided by a leg in 15.

Maritime Musketeers defeated their stablemates Maritime Nutters 9-2, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Porters Pretenders when they entertained Victory B.

Falstaff are tied in second spot following their 8-3 success away at Duchy of Cornwall and had Lewis Dare as their leading marksman with 14 throws of a ton or more which included two maximums.

Kieran Burns (100x14) and Glyn Wells (100x12) both gave a good account of themselves but finished up on the wrong end of a 7-4 scoreline when beaten by Kings Arms.

The Oreston side had Warren Gordon showing his finishing prowess when he made checkouts of 132 and the week’s highest of 137.

Porters A and Victory A played out a high-scoring fixture in week four with 123 throws of a ton or more recorded.

Victory had Scott Lawrey, Neil White and Kelvin Rowe winning their treble in 26 darts (30.81) as the first four disciplines were shared before Porters A took four on the bounce for a 6-5 win.

Antony Hayman and John Mann secured legs in 14 and 15 respectively in their singles while Lee Rodmell caught the eye for the Honicknowle side and top scored with 14 ton plus throws which included outshots of 112 and 110.

Simon Stevenson (30.67) emerged a 3-0 winner in 15, 15 and 19 but finished up on the wrong end of 7-4 scoreline when The Office were beaten by Maritime Marauders.

Two maximums from Chrissie Kinnaird was the highlight of Kings Arms’ 10-1 win against Duchy of Cornwall while the same winning scoreline was also achieved by Maritime Governors when hosting Octagon Social Club.

Paul Palmer (25.05) was a 3-0 winner in 21, 18 and 21 while the one point that eluded them was claimed by Afie Ford (100x13) in a good singles success.

Simon Stevenson brought his PDC form into week three and in helping The Office to a 7-4 win at Maritime Governors, he won his singles in 14, 16 and 15 for a three-dart average of 100.20.

The match also produced the week’s highest checkout when Mike Whatley finished at the first time of asking from 152.

Porters Partriots had a comfortable 9-2 success away at Octagon Social and the fixture provided six maximum scores, three of which were recorded by Antony Hayman.

Andy Bates (30.06) won his singles in 17, 19 and 14 and was well supported by John Mann (100x16) who emerged a 3-1 winner in 20, 15 and 16.

Victory A had Scott Lawrey notching no fewer than 19 ton plus scores in their 7-4 win over Maritime Musketeers but five of the games went the full distance.

Kenny McCullom was a 3-0 winner for Maritime and there were two very good performances from Hayley Brant and Anna Johnson who were unlucky to both go down by the narrowest of margins.

Duchy of Cornwall defeated Victory B 7-4, the highlight being a 13-dart leg from Del Bryce while games won in 14 and 15, by Glyn Wells and Steve Brocklesby respectively, laid the foundations for an 11-0 victory by Brewery Tap when hosting Waterloo.

The highest checkout in week two was a mark of 155, executed by Mark Shears in Porters Pretenders 7-4 win at The Office but it fell just short of the outshot set up by Shaun Dring in week one.

Inspiring his Maritime Marauders side to a 10-1 victory away at Duchy of Cornwall, Dring (pictured right), finished at the first time of asking from 157 to set down a good mark for the season’s best.

Porters Pretenders came from behind to win the last singles and edge out Brewery Tap 6-5.

The match produced five maximum scores, two of which was recorded by Glyn Wells who also hit a 15-darter in a solid singles victory.

Maria O’Brien (100x15) also gave a good account of herself and was also successful in the individual phases with her best leg coming in 15.

A 3-0 victory in 16, 17 and 19 by John Mann (29.90) was the highlight of Porters Patriots 9-2 victory against The Office while a hat-trick of 180s from Lewis Dare inspired Falstaff to an 8-3 success at Compton Social Club.

Victory A defeated Fawn B 7-4 but both teams contributed to a high-scoring fixture that produced 115 throws of a ton or more.

Garry Phillips (100x18) and Neil White (100x14) were prominent for the winners while Robbie Newland (100x13) replied for the visitors.

Alfie Ford (26.84) emerged a 3-0 winner in 18, 19 and 19 as Octagon won 9-2 against Cherry Tree while Governors defeated the Musketeers in the Maritime derby match.

The well-contested fixture saw seven maximum scores recorded, two each for Jason Pinkerton and Lee Agar.
