Barclay banks himself the top average in Friday P&D

PAUL Barclay (below) earned the plaudits in the Plymouth and District Friday League when he threw the best game of the week, which gave him a top average of 30.33.

The marksman had already hit five ton plus scores before checking out at the first time of asking from 110, giving him a win in 33 darts, a feat which helped Octagon Social Club to a 10-3 victory away at City Social C.

League leaders Kings Tamerton Community Centre went through the 300-point barrier with a 9-4 win away at Porters and had Simon Godfrey winning his singles when checking out from 115.

Royal Naval Arms A are six points off the pace in second spot and had Andrew Nation (100x10) as their leading marksman when winning 10-3 away at Waterloo Inn.

Adam Fell made a kill of 104 as Brewery Tap B emerged 11-2 winners away at City Social B while Indian Inn A and Mainstone both won 9-4 against Royal Naval Arms B and Bull and Bush respectively.

Dinky Diner A moved 5-0 ahead of Steam Packet, aided by a checkout of 100 from Kerry Jenkins to clinch the first treble but “Packet” pulled it back to 6-6 before they had Phil Taylor winning the decider for an emphatic victory.

Mark Sargeant finished up on the wrong end of a 9-4 scoreline when The Fawn were defeated at Victory Inn, despite an eye-catching performance.

He hit four tons in a doubles win, which included a checkout of 100 before going on to take his singles in 36 (28.60).

An outshot of 112 by Angie Trout in the final game of the match enabled The Windmill to edge out Weston Mill Oak Villa by the odd game of 13 while Pennycross Social Club and City Social A both won 8-5 against Railway Inn and Brewery Tap A respectively.

Dinky Diner B were 8-5 winners away at Queens Dock but not before the hosts had Mikey Tate registering the week’s top checkout with a kill of 130.
