No change at top of table as leading duo both win 9-2

THERE is no change at the top of the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League table after the two frontrunners both secured 9-2 victories.

Tabletoppers by a single point, Maritime Marauders, defeated Kings Arms while second placed Porters Patriots, won away at Fawn A.

The Barbican side had Andy Bates winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 15, while John Mann also won in three straight legs and top scored with 15 ton plus throws.

Al Ewing (pictured left) recorded the week’s top checkout when finishing at the first time of asking from 138 but ended up on the wrong side of a 9-2 scoreline when Compton Social Club were defeated by Octagon Social Club.

Lee Agar (100x14) inspired Maritime Musketeers to a 10-1 win at Indian Inn, the only team to win in double figures, while Victory Inn A and Victory Inn B both won 7-4 against The Office and Waterloo Inn respectively.

Maritime Governors were 9-2 winners against their stablemates Maritime Nutters with two stand out performances.

Keelan Kay (27.83) won his singles in 16, 18 and 20 while team mate Scott Hutchinson (29.47) emerged a 3-0 winner in 19, 14 and 18.

Duchy of Cornwall led Cherry Tree 6-2, which included a 3-1 win from 13-year-old Frankie Stout, but the visitors rallied well at the end and picked up the last three points to go down by the odd game of 11.

Brewery Tap defeated Fawn B 9-2 and Glyn Wells continued his recent rich vein of form when, in winning 3-1, took out a 12-darter when scoring 180-100-92 before checking out from 129.

Maria O’Brien was also prominent, and top scored with 14 ton plus scores, 11 coming in a 3-1 singles victory while Lee Helliwell emerged a 3-1 winner for the visitors, aided by a leg in 15.

Porters Pretenders kept their unbeaten record but were taken the full distance by Falstaff before winning 6-5.

Pretenders went 3-0 up but were taken to 5-5 by the Southway side which included a 3-1 singles success for Lewis Dare which was boosted by a 12-darter when he threw 140-180-140-41.

High standards were attained once again this week when the 10 fixtures produced no fewer than 30 maximum scores.

Andy Bates and Lewis Dare both hit three each while there were braces for Dan Hill, Scott Wapshott, Scott Hutchinson and Mike Pearce.
