Eddie throws highest checkout of season - No Bull !

INDIAN Inn A took maximum points from Porters B in the Monday Premier League and also equalled the season’s top checkout.

Eddie Bull, (pictured below), who was winning darts trophies as far back as the early 70s, rolled back the years and achieved the highest possible finish of 170.

A well contested fixture between league leaders Victory A and third placed Maritime produced 106 throws of a ton or more, which included three maximums from Gary Phillips as he inspired the Honicknowle side to victory by the narrowest of margins.

Paul Palmer caught the eye for Maritime and top scored with 15 three-figure throws.

Brewery Tap overcame Octagon A 9-2 and had Glynn Wells and Antony Hayman equally sharing a 28-ton haul.

Plympton Cons won 9-2 when hosting Indian Inn B and received good service from Paul Bowen who hit 12 throws of a ton or more which included two maximums.

Hyde Park Social Club had only won once from their previous 17 matches but returned to winning ways when edging out Bluebird 6-5.

Cherry Tree took maximum points away at Prince Maurice B and had Rich Coombs (100x11) impressing while Firkin Scholar overcame Steam Packet A 7-4.

Victory Inn B defeated City Social 9-2 and had Phil Hoskins (100x13) prominent when winning 3-0, aided by two 17-darters.

Sixteen-year-old Jordan Grimshaw continues to impress and emerged a 3-0 singles winner for Social with his best leg being won in 14.

An outstanding fixture was played out at Octagon B before visitors Prince Maurice A finished up as 9-2 winners.

In the best singles encounter of the match Glenn Halford (pictured below) emerged a 3-1 winner in 14, 12 and 15, aided by two maximums and checkouts of 101 and 102, posting a 31.73 average.

Opponent Paul Barclay was not rolled over though taking his leg in 14 darts as did Tony Teal before going on to a 3-0 singles success.

The only individual win for the hosts was an excellent 3-2 victory for Alfie Ford who took out a checkout of 120 against Glenn Austin (100x14).

Steam Packet B made a great recovery against The Tradesman and won the last four singles to prevail by the narrowest of margins to remain in second spot.

One of the last four singles was won by Neil White (100x12) whose best legs were claimed in 16 and 17.

Cherry Tree B triumphed 9-2 against Ford Hotel with Stew Roberts (28.36) emerging a 3-0 singles winner in 16, 16 and 21.
