Leaders Porters inspired by checkout skills from Palmer

PORTERS maintained their three-point advantage at the top of the Plymouth City Super League when defeating Cherry Tree 9-2 and had Paul Palmer (100x13) earning the plaudits with some excellent checkout skills.


Palmer (pictured below) won the opening treble with a kill of 106 before going on to a 3-0 singles victory taking the first leg in 15, checking out from 104, claiming the next in 18 with a 106 outshot before winning the third in 19 for a 28.90 average.


 Octagon consolidated second spot with a 9-2 victory away at Kings Arms and had Fred Goldsmith (100x14) top scoring while Plympton Cons A suffered only their second defeat of the campaign when they were edged out by The Staddy.


With the match evenly poised at 5-5, Marc Cresswell won the deciding 11th point when he defeated Steve Brocklesby 3-1.


St Levan defeated The Clifton 9-2 while The Tradesman remain in the top five after taking all but one of the 11 points that were on offer against Victoria.


The Albemarle defeated Compton 9-2 while The Bluebird defeated Maritime C 8-3, inspired by a top performance from Glenn Halford.


The marksman with partner Lee Roberts, hit seven three-figure scores in a 27-dart 1001 doubles game which Halford finished with an outshot of 114 (37.07) before he went on to take his singles 3-0, aided by legs in 14 and 17.


Maritime A returned from Ker St Social Club with a 10-1 victory, taking all six singles without dropping a leg.


Neil White was their leading marksman and top scored with 12 throws of a ton or more which included two maximums.


Maritime B won 7-4 when hosting Ships Tavern while Cons B were good value for their 8-3 victory against The Fawn.


John Donald was a 3-2 winner, aided by a leg in 15 and Andy Bond (pictured right) won 3-1, claiming the week’s highest checkout with a kill of 154.


Other notable finishes were achieved by: Dan Jewell (118), Teresa Brookshaw (116), Warren Gordon (115), Lee Roberts (111), Reg Matthews (110), Henry Cooper (110).
