Brewery Tap are new leaders but still very close at top

November 23, 2018

BREWERY Tap were the biggest winners in the Monday Premier League and their 10-1 defeat of Porters B has seen them emerge as the new leaders.

But the title race remains competitive as ever with only three points separating the leading five teams and having all now played the same number of matches after previous tabletoppers Victory Inn sat out their bye.

This was an outstanding fixture, inspired once again by Antony Hayman (180x2), who won 3-0 in 12, 16 and 15 to post a single dart average of 34.95.

Hayman’s team-mate Paul Goundry (pictured left) was the only loser, going down 3-2 to Dave Meyrick, despite hitting checkouts of 126 and 124 while Matt Nicholson for Porters, despite being edged out 3-2 by Paul Gavican, recorded the week’s top outshot of 160.

Lewis Dare (100x16) was competitive throughout and a solid 3-1 singles victory put Porters A 4-2 up, only for Octagon A to win four the of the last five and prevail by the narrowest of margins.

Indian Inn A defeated their stablemates Indian B 8-3 and had Mike Whatley top scoring with 13 throws of a ton or more which included a brace of 180s.

Two maximums were also recorded by Dan Scott as Maritime Social Club overcame Bluebird A 9-2, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Prince Maurice B against Prince Maurice A.

Steam Packet A won 8-3 away at Hyde Park Social Club while Cherry Tree B defeated City Social 7-4 and had Stewart Roberts notching a total of 12 ton plus throws which included two maximums.

The Tradesman overcame Cherry Tree A 7-4, as did Octagon Social Club when hosting Plympton Cons, but it was Paul Bowen for the visitors who caught the eye when winning 3-1, aided by legs in 17 and 18 and finishing with a tally of 18 ton plus scores.

Kieran Harris was on target with a brace of 180s as Victory Inn B triumphed 7-4 against Firkin Scholar and Steam Packet B remain in the mix after achieving a 9-2 victory against Ford Hotel.

Neil White (26.84) was a 3-0 winner in 19, 20 and 17 and Quinton Taylor also impressed with a 3-0 success, aided by a 15-darter.

Notable outshots were achieved by: Andy Barlow (138), Mike O’Brien (111), Brum Jeavons (103), Steve Daley (100).
