New Year will begin with joint leaders of Super League

THREE matches that were postponed from the weekend of the Devon Open rounded off 2018 and one in particular, enabled the Plymouth City Super League to have joint leaders going into the New Year.

Previous tabletoppers Porters suffered only their second defeat of the campaign when they went down 7-4 away at Maritime A, in an enthralling fixture that produced 116 throws of a ton or more which included eight maximums and 25 scores of 140.

Three of those 180s were recorded by Neil White (pictured below), coming in a 3-0 defeat of John Mann when winning in 14, 11 and 16 for an outstanding three-dart average of 109.98.

Team mate Stew Roberts top scored with 15 throws of a ton or more which included two outshots of 115 while Dave Matthews (100x15) was also prominent.

Maritime’s victory has now put them in joint top place with Porters, three points in front of Octagon Social Club who defeated St Levan Inn 9-2.

Maritime B secured all but one of the 11 points away at Compton Social Club which included a 3-0 singles success for Jon Easterbrook who took two of the legs in 15.

Shaun Dring was also prominent and finished a 15-darter with a kill of 120 before going on to take his individual game by a 3-1 margin.

Porters defeated Ships Tavern 8-3 in week 13 and received good service from Mike Beard (25.91) who hit two maximums when winning 3-0 in 17, 21 and 20.
