Victory return to top of table with two-point advantage

VICTORY Inn A have opened up a two-point advantage at the top of the Monday Premier League after they inflicted on Firkin Scholar an 8-3 defeat.

The Honicknowle side hit 52 scores of a ton or more, including five maximums, two of which were recorded by Darren Collis.

Keelan Kay won 3-1 aided by a leg in 15 while Gary Phillips (pictured) emerged a 3-0 winner, clinching the third and decisive leg in 11, with scores of 123, 180, 140 before finishing in two from 58.

Brewery Tap came from behind to win at Maritime but their victory by the narrowest of margins has forced them do drop down into second spot.

Glenn Halford inspired Prince Maurice A to a 10-1 success away at Indian Inn B, the only team to win in double figures.

Halford top scored with 14 throws of a ton or more which included a brace of 180s and at 2-2 in his singles, he hit a 14-darter.

Fred Goldsmith (31.31) earned the plaudits as Octagon A defeated Porters B 8-3, when he emerged a 3-0 singles winner in 15, 16 and 17.

Steam Packet A returned from Ford Hotel with a 6-5 success while The Tradesman, in defeating Victory B 9-2, had Andy Waters top scoring with 12 ton-plus throws which included outshots of 117 and 116.

Steam Packet B consolidated third spot when defeating Octagon B 7-4, buoyed by a 3-1 singles success for Alec Turner in 21, 18 and 15 and Quinton Taylor (100x12) as their leading marksman.

Lewis Dare (100x13) was prominent for Porters A and they remain in the mix after an 8-3 defeat of Hyde Park Social Club.

Mark Henley (100x12) top scored for Bluebird A in their 7-4 win over City Social, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Cherry Tree B on their visit to Prince Maurice B.

Bluebird B defeated Plympton Cons 8-3 and had Keith Lemon achieving the week’s highest checkout of 122 as well as being on target with another kill of 118.
