Indian Inn cause upset and dent Victory's title hopes
VICTORY Inn lost their place at the top of the Monday Premier League when they were defeated for only the fourth time in 34 matches.
They trailed Indian Inn A 3-1 but pulled it back to 5-5, only to lose the 11th and decisive point when Indian A’s Danny Bull (100x11) emerged a 3-1 winner.
Victory’s title rivals Steam Packet B took full advantage by winning 11-0 away at Hyde Park Social Club, the highlight being a 2-1 doubles victory for Pete Roulston and Neil White, winning one of the 601 legs in 17 darts.
Prince Maurice B defeated Indian Inn B 8-3 but Teresa Brookshaw (pictured) earned the plaudits when she emerged a 3-1 winner in 15, 17 and 17.
Lee Roberts was a 3-0 winner in 19, 17 and 19, inspiring Prince Maurice A to an 8-3 victory away at City Social while Octagon A triumphed 9-2 at Steam Packet A and Bluebird A also won on the road when they defeated Porters B 7-4.
Paul Bowen emerged a 3-0 singles winner, aided by a 15-darter as Plympton Cons prevailed 8-3 when hosting Ford Hotel while The Tradesman won by a similar margin on their visit to Octagon B.
Maritime returned from Cherry Tree B with a 9-2 victory and had Dan Scott as their talisman when he top-scored with 12 throws of a ton or more and won his singles in three straight legs, aided by a 15-darter.
Bluebird B defeated Firkin Scholar 7-4 and had Steve Crane registering the highest checkout of the week when he finished at the first time of asking from 160.
