Poison Ivy win to maintain their push for promotion

POISON Ivy consolidated at the top of Devon Super League’s division one, when they defeated second-placed Rowing Club (Paignton) 7-2.

Tex Pearce (21.17) came from 2-1 down to clinch the opener 4-2, before Quinton Taylor (22.31) also had to come from behind and edged it 4-3, after trailing 3-2.

Mike Pearce (27.23) was also a winner after having to go the full distance before Neil White (27.97) turned in a man-of-the-match performance to put Ivy 4-0 in front.

White (pictured) took the opening leg in 17 before finishing off an 18-darter with a kill of 143.

He again showed his finishing prowess when a checkout of 124 enabled him to take the next in 15 before finishing a 4-1 rout with a win in 16.

Peter Holland (22.02) won in four straight legs before Lee Agar (24.64) came from 2-1 down to win 4-2, taking legs five and six both in 18.

The hosts took two of the last three but in between, Dan Puleston (22.64) emerged a 4-1 winner.

Poison Ivy, who play out of the Westward Inn at Lee Mill, now have a three-point advantage over their nearest rival with a match in hand and a promotion place into the premier division is nearing fruition.
