St Levan come from behind and return to winning ways

ST. LEVAN Inn made a great comeback in the Plymouth City Super League to record only their fifth victory of the campaign.

They had won just four of their previous 23 fixtures but returned to winning ways when edging out The Fawn.

The Keyham side trailed 5-3 but 3-1 wins for both Anna Johnson and Hayley Brant brought the two sides level before Ewan Johnson (pictured), who turns 21 on Thursday, battled for a 3-2 victory which included a leg in 15.

There is no change at the top of the table after the two leading sides both won 8-3.

Tabletoppers Maritime A defeated their stablemates Maritime B 8-3 and had James Baker winning 3-1, aided by legs in 17 and a 15-darter which he finished with the week’s top checkout of 124.

Second placed Porters overcame Bluebird in a fixture that saw seven maximums recorded, five of them coming from the Porters duo of John Mann (180x3) and Scott Wapshott.

Mann was also prominent in the individual phases when a 13-darter helped him to defeat Glenn Halford (100x14) 3-1.

Octagon Social Club were the week’s biggest winners and inflicted on Compton an 11-0 whitewash while Plympton Cons A won 7-4 away at The Albemarle and Ker St defeated Victoria 8-3.

The A team earned themselves the bragging rights in the Kings Arms derby encounter by a 9-2 margin and in the best singles of the fixture, Reg Matthews (100x12) edged out Dave Johns (100x13) 3-2.

Plympton Cons B won by the narrowest of margins when hosting Cherry Tree, but they had to come from behind and rely on Mick Harding to win the decisive 11th point.

The Staddy overcame Maritime C 8-3, aided by a good performance from Dave Algar, who emerged a 3-1 winner aided by a leg in 15.

The Tradesman were taken the full distance by The Clifton but at 5-5, Neil Reid emerged a 3-0 winner, aided by a 15-darter which he finished with a kill of 116.

Other notable outshots were achieved by: Glenn Halford (116), Kev Rice (103), Dave Algar (102), Neil White (100).
