The Mirror Man wins through to the last 32 in Germany

SIMON Stevenson will meet the No.9 seed Jonny Clayton tomorrow afternoon after winning his first-round round match against Dave Prins.

The Mirror Man had the privilege of competing in the opening match of the £140,000 German Darts Championship, at Halle 39 in Hildesheim earlier today and produced another solid performance.

He was 2-1 down after the first three legs but did not lose another as he took the next five on the bounce to progress into the last 32 where he is guaranteed 2,000 Order of Merit ranking points.

Stevenson won the fourth leg in 17 to tie it at 2-2 before his first maximum enabled him to take the next in 13, followed by another in 13 after an opening salvo of three 140s.

His second maximum of the match helped Stevenson to claim the seventh leg in 15 for a 5-2 lead before finishing the job with aplomb when he finished the leg in 15 with a checkout of 117, his last nine darts scoring 357 points.

That accomplished 6-2 victory was achieved with a 96.32 average and The Mirror Man will be hoping to replicate that form again tomorrow when he faces Clayton, a player he has never met before on the PDC Main Tour.
