LEAGUE leaders Porters Patriots made it 30 wins on the spin when defeating their stablemates Porters Pretenders in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League and not for the first time this season they did it in style.
They put 65 throws of a ton or more up on the scoreboard which included the week’s highest checkout of 157, executed by Andy Bates (28.90) (pictured), coming at the end of a 3-0 victory which was won in 15, 19 and 18.
John Mann was on target with a brace of 180s while Antony Hayman (100x17) emerged a 3-1 winner in 14, 19 and 18.
Another well contested derby match was played out at the Maritime when the Marauders, in second spot, edged out Musketeers 6-5.
At the start of this fixture Musketeers were 45 points behind their illustrious stablemates but pushed them the full distance and even led 4-2, before the winners clinched four singles on the bounce for victory.
Kenny McCollum was one of only two individual successes for the Musketeers but finished as the fixture’s leading marksman with 14 ton plus throws.
Mike Nancholas (100x12) top scored in Fawn A’s 7-4 victory away at Compton Social Club while The Office and Kings Arms both won 8-3 against Maritime Nutters and The Falstaff respectively.
Victory A were in a rich vein of form and inflicted on Indian Inn A an 11-0 whitewash.
Scott Lawrey (26.37) emerged a 3-0 winner in 17, 24 and 16 and was well supported by Gary Phillips (25.91) who cleaned up in 17, 19 and 22.
Ralph Lancaster showed he has lost none of his guile when winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 15, but could not prevent Octagon Social Club from being edged out 6-5 by The Melbourne.
Alfie Ford (100x12) top scored for Octagon while Frankie Stout (100x12) was on target for the visitors.
Brewery Tap won 9-2 on their visit to Maritime Governors and in the best encounter of the fixture, Jason Pinkerton (180x3) edged out Maria O’Brien (100x16) 3-2, her winning legs being won in 14 and 19.
Jordan Grimshaw also caught the eye in a 3-1 singles victory which was enlightened by a leg in 14.
Phil Taylor (100x12) was Cherry Tree’s form player when winning 7-4 away at Indian Inn B while Lee Hellings (100x12) helped to lay down the foundations for Fawn B to defeat Victory Inn B 9-2.
