Patriots march on towards title with John as top Mann

CHAMPIONS elect Porters Patriots were one of three teams to win in double figures this week in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League and had John Mann (pictured) earning the plaudits with an excellent performance.

The Devon county marksman emerged a 3-0 singles winner in 17, 15 and 11, achieving a single dart average of 34.95, and he also hit three maximums as Patriots defeated Kings Arms 10-1.

Fawn A defeated Melbourne 9-2, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Brewery Tap on their visit to Maritime Nutters and had Kieran Burns catching the eye when emerging a 3-0 singles winner in 15, 20, 20 for a 27.33 average.

Two maximums in a 3-1 singles victory from Jon Matlock was the highlight of Porters Pretenders 10-1 success away at Compton Social Club while Fawn B also won on the road and defeated Cherry Tree 9-2.

Lewis Dare emerged a 3-1 winner, aided by a leg in 15, but finished up on the wrong end of an 8-3 scoreline when Falstaff were defeated by Maritime Musketeers.

Octagon Social Club won 8-3 away at Indian Inn B but it was Liam Campbell for the hosts who caught the eye.

Not only was he Indian’s only winner when defeating Paul Tackle (100x11) 3-1, but he top-scored with no fewer than 20 throws of a ton or more.

An outstanding contest enthused at Victory Inn A when the hosts edged out Maritime Marauders 6-5 in a fixture that produced 98 three-figure throws, six of which were maximums.

With the scoreline evenly poised at 5-5, Scott Lawrey put in one of his best performances of the season to beat Tex Pearce (100x13) 3-1, aided by three maximums and a 13-darter.

The Office secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when hosting Indian Inn A, but the highlight was achieved by Alex Yates for the visitors when he threw the week’s highest checkout of 149.
