Packet B lift Monday Premier title after season's tussle

STEAM Packet B are the new champions of the Monday Premier League.

After a season's tussle with their rivals that saw the lead change hands many times, they eventually earned the crown with a match to spare.

They achieved a 10-1 success against Bluebird B while title rivals Victory Inn A, who were playing their final match of the season, lost 7-4 away at The Tradesman.

Malcolm Johns was prominent for The Tradesman and in winning his singles 3-0, claimed his best game in 15 darts.

Porters A also won in double figures when restricting Ford Hotel to a single point while Maritime Social Club defeated Octagon A 7-4 and had Kieran Burns emerging a 3-0 winner, aided by a leg in 15.

Lee Hellings and Dave Pethick caught the eye in the doubles when, in winning by the odd leg in three, they achieved a 601 leg in 17 darts.

Bluebird A won the last two singles to edge out Prince Maurice B 6-5 and had Mark Henley as their talisman when he won his singles in three straight legs and top scored with 13 throws of a ton or more which included a brace of 180s.

Brewery Tap defeated City Social 9-2 while Octagon B and Plympton Cons both won 8-3 against Steam Packet A and Victory B respectively.

Firkin Scholar had to settle for victory by the narrowest of margins away at Indian Inn A, despite holding a 4-1 advantage.

Mike Whatley was consistent throughout for the hosts and top scored with 16 throws of a ton or more.

Matt Nicholson won 3-0, aided by a leg in 13, inspiring Porters B to a 10-1 victory away at Hyde Park Social Club.

Prince Maurice A were won of four teams to win in double figures and in restricting Cherry Tree to just a solitary point they had Nick Perring (pictured) throwing the week’s highest checkout with a mark of 153.

Other notable outshots were achieved by: Marc Miles (142), Adam Searle (113), Matt Ansell (110/100), Pete Roulston (108), Keith Lemon (102).
