Tap tops table with seven point advantage over rivals

BREWERY Tap took maximum points when hosting St Levan Inn and subsequently have opened up a seven-point advantage at the top of the Plymouth City Super League table.

 

Andy Bates (pictured) was their form player, top scoring with 16 throws of a ton more which included his fourth maximum of the campaign and the week’s highest checkout of 158.

 

Plympton Cons A drop down to third spot after suffering their first defeat despite some very good performances. They trailed Steam Packet 4-1 but despite a competitive rally, went down by the narrowest of margins.

 

 Tony Teal emerged a 3-1 winner in 21, 17, 17 while Dave Collins (30.67) recorded the week’s top average when winning 3-0 in 17, 18, 14.

 

Their stablemates Plympton Cons B moved up into second place on the back of a 9-2 success away at Victory B while The Staddy, who had Warren Gordon (100x12) and Marc Cresswell (100x12) as their leading marksmen, won in double figures when restricting The Clifton to a single point.

 

Simon Stevenson inspired The Fawn to their first success of the campaign when, in winning his singles 3-0, took the opening leg in 12 darts, before the Greenbank side went on to triumph 8-3 against Kings Arms B.

 

John Brownlow (100x12) caught the eye as Kings Tamerton CC won 8-3 against Bluebird A, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Victory Inn A and Maritime B away at Kings Arms A and Ker St A respectively.

 

Shaun Dring (100x13) was prominent for Maritime A in their 8-3 defeat of Ker St B while Victoria won 7-4 when hosting Cherry Tree.

 

Octagon Social Club continued their good start to the season when defeating Hyde Park 9-2.

 

Dave Pethick and Dave Matthews won their doubles game in 38 darts (26.34) before Alfie Ford (27.83) won 3-0, taking all the legs in 18 before Neil White (28.36) won in 23, 14, 16.

 

Notable outshots were achieved by: Dave Johns (141), John Brownlow (132), Phil Taylor (115), Alfie Ford (111), Roger Ford (110), Brian Easterbrook (103), Martyn Down (102).
