Two points separate top six teams in Monday Premier

THE first three weeks of competition in the Monday Premier League have been very competitive and only two points separate the leading six teams.

Victory Inn A were one of only two teams to win in double figures and their 10-1 defeat of Plympton Cons has enabled them to move up to joint leaders.

Keelan Kay (29.47) produced another vintage performance and won his singles in 14, 18, 19 while Nathan Langdon (100x13) caught the eye for Plympton Cons.

Brewery Tap have lost their points advantage at the top of the table but still have a share of the lead after a 7-4 success against Bluebird A with Antony Hayman notching his fourth and fifth maximum in just three weeks.

Firkin Scholar won 9-2 when hosting Indian Inn B to deliver their first victory of the campaign while Bluebird B were dominant away at Ford Hotel and restricted the hosts to just a single point.

Maritime Social Club put 50 scores of a ton or more on the board before winning 7-4 away at Victory Inn B and had Kieran Burns hitting 16 and 17-dart legs in a 3-0 singles victory with Shaun Dring (100x11) and Paul Hendy (100x11) top scoring.

Lewis Dare (100x11) emerged a 3-1 winner in 19, 20, 16 which was the highlight of Porters A’s 7-4 win away at Octagon B while following two consecutive defeats, Bluebird C opened their account when hosting The Tradesman.

Bluebird won the early exchanges to lead 2-0 but still had to rely on Glenn Halford (3-0) to make it 5-5 and Nick Perring (pictured) to clinch the decisive 11th point 3-2, in order that they won by the narrowest of margins.

Octagon A won 8-3 away at Porters B but the hosts had Matt Nicholson as their only singles winner, and he set a new mark for the season’s top checkout when finishing at the first time of asking from 156.

Other notable checkouts were delivered by: Paul Freeman (144), Scott Cook (143), Darren Smith (130), Teresa Brookshaw (105), John Turpin (100), Keith Lemon (100).
