Early matches are competitive with six teams in the mix

THE early fixtures in the Monday Premier League have proved to be very competitive and only four points separate the leading six, with four of the teams protecting an unblemished record.

Porters A won 10-1 against Ford Hotel and are now joint leaders with Brewery Tap who defeated Bluebird B 9-2.

Tap had Scott Cook top scoring with 11 throws of a ton or more which included the week’s top checkout of 150.

Indian Inn A overcame Bluebird D 10-1 and had Danny Bull winning 3-0 with his best legs coming in 14 and 16 while Octagon A and Firkin Scholar both won 9-2 against Victory Inn B and Bluebird A respectively.

Keelan Kay (27.33) emerged a 3-0 winner in 16, 16 and 23 but still finished up on the losing side when Victory Inn were edged out 6-5 by Octagon B.

The Tradesman secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when hosting Porters B and had John Mann (27.33) emerging a 3-0 winner in17, 19 and 19.

Nik Dodd also caught the eye when scoring three 180s, two coming in a 3-0 singles win.

Maritime held off Plympton Cons to win by the odd game of 11 when Kieran Burns won the 11th and decisive point while Dan Johnson (pictured) looked to be getting back to form when top scoring with 14 throws of a ton or more.

Steam Packet were the biggest winners of the week when they took maximum points off Indian Inn B.

Alex Brown emerged a 3-1 winner in 18, 18 and 20 and Neil White (25.47) won 3-0 in 22, 19 and 18.
