Bailey and Kay shine despite third defeat for Victory

VICTORY Inn A suffered their third defeat of the season in the Monday Premier League when they were edged out 6-5 by Porters A, but not before they had Keelan Kay (100x11) and Shaun Bailey (100x12) (pictured) winning their doubles with two 21-dart 601 legs to boast the week’s top average of 28.62.

The fixture also produced the highest checkout when Porters’ Matt Abbott finished the first time of asking from 136.

Octagon Social Club increased their advantage at the top of the table to 11 points with a 10-1 defeat of Bluebird A, having Stew Roberts (100x12) as their leading marksman while second placed Maritime won 8-3 away at Bluebird B.

Steam Packet put in a good performance to defeat Victory B 8-3 and catching the eye in the singles were Alex Turner (19, 19, 20) and Luke Johnson (19, 19, 22) to post averages of 25.91 and 25.05 respectively.

Quinton Taylor was also prominent and recorded two maximums in a 3-1 success as well as a leg in 15.

Porters B edged out Plympton Cons by the narrowest of margins helped by good performances in the singles.

Dave Meyrick secured a leg in 15 before going on to win 3-0 and Paul Freeman also won without dropping a leg, achieving the sixth and decisive point with his best leg coming in 14.

The Tradesman won in double figures when restricting Indian Inn B to a single point while Bluebird D triumphed 7-4 at Ford Hotel and Bluebird C defeated Octagon B 8-3.

Brewery Tap came from behind to edge out Indian Inn A 6-5 in a fixture that saw five maximums recorded, two of them coming from Antony Hayman.

Indian A lost the match in the singles with only two successes, one of them being the top scorer Harry Bull (100x12).
