Maritime boast unassailable lead at season's mid-point

FOLLOWING a week of re-arranged fixtures in the Plymouth and District Friday League, Maritime Social Club find themselves with a lead of 33 points at the top of the table and remain undefeated after 24 matches.

They won 9-4 away at Porters A but taking the plaudits in that fixture was Harry Bull (32.29) (pictured) for the hosts who, in winning his singles in 31 darts, was Porters only singles success.

Cliff Escott (100x12) top scored for Queen & Con in their 12-1 success away at Firkin Scholar while Indian Inn B defeated The Windmill 9-4.

Nathan Beeney won his individual game in 31 (32.29) and was joint top scorer with Dan Sheikh whose 10-ton haul included a kill of 120.

The Tradesman edged out Dartsworld B 7-6 and Porters C defeated Firkin Doghouse 9-4 while a no-show from Queens Dock gave Ker St the 13 points.

Week 26 was the start of the second half of the campaign and the title favourites dropped just a single point when hosting Brewery Tap.

The fixture produced five maximums, two from Glyn Wells, who also partnered Kieran Burns and Cat Callard in a 33-dart (30.33) trebles success.

Porters A have gone into second spot following a 13-0 whitewash of a depleted Firkin Doghouse side while just a point behind in third are Indian Inn A who won 8-5 at Dartsworld B.

King Billy B edged out Porters C 7-6 and also achieved the week’s top checkout through Lee Gillard who finished at the first time of asking from 140.

The Windmill defeated Mainstone 8-5 and had Mark Shears (100x12) catching the eye when he hit a brace of 180s in a trebles victory.

The Tradesman won in double figures when restricting The Fawn to just two points while Queen and Con and Octagon were both 9-4 winners against Queens Dock and Ker St respectively.

An outshot of 119 by Kevin Evans was the highlight of Weston Mill Oak Villa’s 8-5 victory away at Royal Naval Arms.

King Billy A, who had Andrew Nation (100x11) as their leading marksman, won 9-4 on their visit to Porters B, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Indian B when hosting Dartsworld A.

Mark Hatherley and Dan Sheikh (27.81) secured their doubles in 36 before Sheikh won his singles with an outshot of 119.
