The leading seven consolidate after return to action

TEAMS returned to action after the Christmas break in the Plymouth City Super League, and the top seven sides consolidated their positions by all winning.

Tabletoppers Brewery Tap made it 19 victories from as many starts when defeating Maritime B 9-2 and had Andy Bates (28.36) emerging a 3-0 winner in 15, 22 and 16 while Antony Hayman hit his 15th and 16th maximum of the campaign.

Second placed Octagon Social Club won 7-4 away at The Fawn with Fred Goldsmith (100x13) top scoring in a fixture that produced some excellent individual performances.

Neil White scored 140, 100, 140 before checking out from 121 for a 12-dart leg but was defeated 3-1 by Simon Stevenson whose best leg came in 11 darts when he scored 180, 135, 100 before needing just two darts to checkout out at the first time of asking from 86.

Danny Bunney caught the eye for The Fawn but was edged out 3-2 despite chalking up a 14-darter.

Reg Matthews hit a 15-dart leg in a 3-0 singles success but finished up on the wrong end of a 7-4 scoreline when Kings Arms A were defeated at The Staddy.

Plympton Cons A laid down the gauntlet in their opening game when Dave Collins (100x13), Jordan Searle and Dan Malinowski won their treble in 35 (28.60) before going on to a 9-2 win away at Cherry Tree.

Martitime A were the only team to win in double figures when they restricted Hyde Park Social Club to a single point while Kings Arms B, Plympton Cons B and Steam Packet won 7-4.

Victory B were 9-2 victors when hosting Bluebird B while Lewis Dare (100x13) top scored for Victory Inn A in their 8-3 success away at Ker St A.

Bluebird A defeated Ker St B 7-4, the highlight being a checkout of 141, executed by Glenn Halford (pictured) which proved to be the week’s best.
