Porters A are P&D Friday League champions - no Bull !

AFTER an arduous season, that stretched over 12 months of two calendar years, Porters A have been crowned champions of the Plymouth and District Friday League.

They took a maximum 26 points from their final two matches to claim the title with 14 points to spare.

Second placed Kings Tamerton Community Centre won their penultimate fixture 11-2 before crashing to a 9-4 defeat against Royal Naval Arms A who had to settle for third place, despite winning their last 35 matches, since they were defeated back in April 2017.

Andy Bates (RN Arms A) finished the campaign as individual champion with 46 victories from 48 starts followed by Mark Shears on 45 and Pete James just a further point behind.

Bates and Glyn Wells boast the season’s top games when they both won in 26 while there were a further five games won in 27.

Richard Lynch and Andrew Nation shared the prize for the season’s top checkout when they both achieved the highest possible outshot of 170 while in the final week of the campaign, Jon Matlock (33.37) for Porters B achieved two 180s in a 30-dart game which he finished with a kill of 152.

Other notable outshots in the final week were achieved by Ant Pearn (149), Sean Taylor (130), John Brownlow (127), Dan Beeney (110).
