Patriots start second half of season with 11-0 rout

PORTERS Patriots began the second half of their campaign in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League with maximum points against Indian Inn in a fixture that saw five maximum scores recorded.

John Mann (100x13) won his singles 3-0, which included a leg in 15 while Indian’s Paul Gavican gave a good account of himself before being edged out 3-2 by Andy Bates.

Bates notched two 180s and took a leg in 15 while opponent Gavican was on target with a game in 13.

The Misfits earned the bragging rights against their Maritime stablemates the Musketeers when they won 9-2, a win which began with a 26-dart treble from Billy Evans, Rob May and Scott Hutchinson (30.81).

Torpoint Cons rallied well to come from a 4-1 deficit to level at 5-5, only for City Social to win the 11th and decisive point through Maria O’Brien.

Octagon Social Club defeated Compton Social Club 8-3 and had Alfie Ford (100x13) and Steve Packer (100x13) as their leading marksmen while there were 9-2 victories for both Brewery Tap and Plympton Cons against Duchy of Cornwall and Fawn B respectively.

Porters Pretenders emulated their stablemates by taking maximum points from their fixture away at Waterloo Inn while Brookside won 7-4 on their visit to Falstaff.

The hosts had Lewis Dare (100x14) catching the eye with a solid display throughout while Scott Lawrey emerged a 3-0 winner for the Honicknowle side, aided by a leg in 15.

Maritime Marauders edged out Kings Arms 6-5 and had Mike Pearce (27.83) emerging a 3-0 winner in 17, 18 and 19.

They also claimed the week’s highest checkout award when Dan Puleston finished at the first time of asking from 156.
