Packet consolidate at top of table with maximum wins

STEAM Packet consolidated their position at the top of the Monday Premier League with an 8-3 victory against Firkin Scholar, a match that produced 100 scores of a ton more.

Neil White (100x12) was consistent throughout for the winners and achieved a 3-0 singles success with his best leg being won in 14 darts.

Maritime Social Club are now up into second place, three points behind the leaders, but a point in front of third placed Brookside A.

STEADY EDDY: Indian Inn's Eddy Bull held his nerve and hit the winning double to give his side a win by the narrowest of margins away at Porters A.

Maritime secured all but one of the 11 points that were on offer when hosting Brookside B and had Dan Scott (25.47) emerging a 3-0 winner in 18, 18 and 23.

Phil Hoskin earned the visitors their solitary point when taking his singles by the odd leg in five with his best games being claimed in 14 and 18.

Brookside A overcame Porters B 9-2 and had Gary Phillips (100x15) as their leading marksman but it was Keelan Kay who earned the plaudits when emerging a 3-0 winner in 17, 17 and 16 for the week’s top average of 30.06.

Not for the first time this season, Antony Hayman was Brewery Tap’s talisman as they won 9-2 away at Indian Inn B.

The marksman hit a maximum and finished a 601 doubles leg with a kill of 100 for a win in 21. He was also prominent in the individual phases when hitting his second and third 180 of the match before checking out from 139 for an accomplished 3-0 singles win.

The Tradesman edged out Plympton Cons 6-5 but there was a win in double figures for Octagon A as they restricted Bluebird A to just a single point with Jaydon Dodd (100x12) as their top scorer.

Prince Maurice A returned from Ford Hotel with a 7-4 victory and had Lee Roberts (100x13) hitting a 15-darter but he was edged out 3-2 by Paddy Archibald (100x11) in the best singles encounter of the fixture.

Porters A recorded no fewer than 63 scores of a ton or more, led by Lewis Dare (100x13) and Matt Abbott (100x14) when hosting Indian Inn A, but could not turn their advantage into a victory.

It went right down to the wire though and at 5-5 and two legs each, Eddy Bull hit the winning double against Mike Miller to give the Stoke side victory.

Octagon B dropped just a single point when winning on the road at Prince Maurice B and Bluebird B also achieved a convincing win when they beat Hyde Park 9-2.

Hyde Park though had Rick Trinder and Steve Duke winning their doubles in two straight legs, aided by the week’s highest checkout from Trinder of 144.
