Tight at the top with only four points dividing top five

COMPETITION for the top spot in the Monday Premier League is very competitive, evident in the fact that only four points now separate the leading quintet.

Leaders by just a single point are Porters A and they had Lewis Dare hitting a brace of 180s in their 9-2 success away at Indian B, for whom Jordan Searle also hit two maximums.

Octagon B had Alfie Ford (100x11) as their leading marksman as they took maximum points away at Ford Hotel while in Maritime’s 8-3 victory at Steam Packet B, 100 throws of a ton more were recorded including no fewer than nine maximums.

For the winners Jason Pinkerton (100x18) top scored and Kieran Burns hit two 180s.

Packet’s Neil White clinched a leg in 14 before going on to a 3-0 singles win while Quinton Taylor (left) notched three maximums and team mate Alex Turner equalled the week’s top checkout of 120.

Porters B won by the narrowest of margins when entertaining Steam Packet A, while Cherry Tree secured all but one of the 11 points on offer against Hyde Park Social Club.

Neil Reid (100x11) top scored in The Tradesman’s 10-1 victory against Prince Maurice B while The Bluebird triumphed 8-3 against Indian Inn A.

Mark Henley was on target with two 180s for the winners and Rob Thorning (100x12) also gave a good account of himself while Indian’s Danny Bull was their leading marksman.

He recorded 15 throws of a ton or more which included two maximums and team mate Al Rowe equalled the week’s top checkout with a kill of 120.

Glenn Halford (100x15) was the talisman for Prince Maurice A as they overcame Firkin Scholar 8-3 while Brewery Tap won by the same margin away at Victory A.

Antony Hayman threw 11 ton plus scores, including a brace of 180s and also notched a 15-dart leg before going on to a 3-1 singles success.

Gary Phillips was consistent throughout for the Honicknowle side and was their top marksman with 13 tons.

Notable outshots were achieved by: Jay Smeth (117), Kieran Burns (111), Tom James (110), David Young (106), Keith Whitley (100).
