Porters have a nine-point lead as they hone in on title

PORTERS and Maritime A both hit the 300-point barrier, but it is the former that are honing-in on the Plymouth City Super League title as they have a nine-point advantage over their rivals with just two weeks of competition remaining.

Porters won 9-2 away at Kings Arms A with some outstanding performances, none more so than the 27-dart doubles victory for John Mann and Scott Wapshott, giving them a 37.07 average.

Mann was also prominent in the singles when winning 3-0, aided by a leg in 15 and was well supported by Paul Palmer who also won in three straight legs, aided by a 14-darter and a brace of 180s.

Second placed Maritime A were good value for their 10-1 victory away at The Fawn, registering 59 throws of a ton or more along the way with Dave Matthews (100x16) and Neil White (100x13) as their leading marksman.

Plympton Cons A put in arguably one of their best performances of the season in defeating The Tradesman 8-3.

Dan Malinowski and Tony Teal clinched their double in 34 darts (29.44) while in the individual phases Steve Brocklesby won 3-1 in 17, 22, 17, but these performances were overshadowed by an excellent showing from Andy Malinowski (pictured) who emerged a 3-0 winner in 15, 15, 19, boasting a single dart average of 30.67.

Despite having to find a change of personnel to participate in this fixture, St Levan Inn returned to winning ways when they edged out Ker St Social Club 6-5, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Kings Arms B when hosting Cherry Tree.

The Staddy were one of only two teams to win in double figures as they restricted The Albemarle to just a single point.

Dave Algar (100x12) emerged a 3-1 winner with his best leg being won in 14 while Marc Cresswell (100x12) was also prominent.

The Clifton edged out Victoria 6-5, winning the last three singles 3-2, while Maritime C were 9-2 winners on their visit to Compton Social Club.

Individual leader Glenn Halford (100x15) won 3-1, aided by two maximums and a 15-dart leg, but could not prevent The Bluebird from losing 8-3 on their visit to Octagon Social Club in a high-scoring fixture that produced 100 throws of a ton or more including five maximums.

Alfie Ford caught the eye for the hosts when, in winning his singles, 3-2, achieved his best game in 15.

Maritime B defeated Plympton Cons B 7-4 and had as their leading marksmen Jon Easterbrook (100x14) and Phil Hoyle who hit two 180s in an 11-ton haul.

John Donald was prominent for the visitors and was their top scorer with 100x14.
