Colebrook Have A Need For Reed

Dave Reed shared the top checkout of the week in the Plymouth City Super League with two others as he bagged a fine 114 checkout in Colebrook's 6-5 defeat to Clifton.

Kev Seal scored heavily for the victors with an eleven ton haul whilst Reed's teammates Steve Hiscox and Nathan Langdon chalked up the only maximums of the matchup.

Dave Pethick was the second member of the 114 club as his sharp finishing helped Octagon to a 9-2 win over Ker St.

Pethick added a 112 finish to that mark whilst teammates John Mann and Neil White scored twenty-two tons equally between the two and Lee Hellings top scored with twelve tons overall.

Of the six maximums that were shared by both teams, Mann added a brace whilst White joined Hellings in adding his name to that column.

Mann's (26.84) 3-0 singles win was helped along by a leg in 18 whilst White won his singles 3-1 against Ian Heggie who had notched a brace of 180s earlier in the match to complete the sextet of efforts.

Roger Backway's 114 checkout, along with 180s for both Mike Phillips and Steve Mayne, gave Kings B a nudge in the right direction of a 9-2 success over Duchy of Cornwall.

Those players accomplishments were however usurped by teammate Martyn Down's ability to reach ten tons for the night.

Fawn A had Simon Stevenson in blistering form with fourteen three figure scores during an 8-3 triumph over Cherry Tree.

Dave Roberts ably supported Stevenson with ten tons whilst Mike Nancholas added the game's only maximum for the rampant Greenbank team.

Steve Mills was one of two singles winners for the visitors and did so with legs of 18 and 17 darts, as well as a 93 checkout in a 3-1 win.

A pulsating 6-5 win for Steampacket over Hyde Park was accented by thirteen three figure scores from Marc Webber; a total that contained two maximums.

Despite this form, and winning legs in 15 and 18 darts, Webber fell to Ben Welsh in the singles phase 3-2 as Welsh nailed a crucial 17 darter to defeat his rival to make the match score 4-4 in the topsy-turvy tie.

George Beckett was his usual brilliant self for the victors with twelve tons whilst Lee Dennis returned to the board to make it 5-5 after superbly finishing from 106 in his previous outing.

The game would however be snatched away from the Peverell team in the final leg of the match as Phil Taylor won the last singles game 3-2 to give his team the spoils.

Bluebird A took the lion's share of point in the Bluebird derby match as they ran riot over their B team rivals; thanks in part to a Glenn Halford twelve ton haul.

Halford joined teammate James Stoodley and relative from the opposition team, Dale Halford, in hitting 180s during the contest.

That 180 contributed to Dale Halford's eleven tons in total whilst teammate Vince Scallan managed the highest checkout of a disappointing night for the B team with a fine 101 kill in a single visit to the board.

King Billy continued their title defence with a routine 8-3 success over Victoria that saw new signing Lee Doncaster reach eleven tons for his evening's work.

Doncaster's teammate Antony Hayman added the game's only 180 whilst Roger Ford produced the only moment of magic for his team with a 100 checkout.

Harry Bull top scored in an 11-0 whitewash for Raffles over their near neighbours, Fawn B, as he claimed eleven ton plusses for the night.

Both James Ewing and Danny Bull bagged themselves 17 darters in 3-2 and 3-0 wins respectively whilst Alonzo Marshall scored his Greenbank team's only maximum of the match.

Tex Pearce added eleven tons to the scoreboard but couldn't prevent St Levans from ending on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat to Kings A.

That win owed much to the form of Colin Sloman who reached ten tons for the evening and defeated Anna Johnson 3-2 in the singles after she had checked the highest recorded finish of 73.

Reg Matthews showed there's life in the old dog yet as he ploughed in ten tons during Saltram's 10-1 win over Victory C.

Matthews joined Dave Algar in hitting a maximum during the match whilst Algar's 94 checkout in a single visit was the highest of the match.

Paul Hoare's 180 was the only notable contribution for Victory B as they won 8-3 against newly formed team Half Moon.
