Divine Dare Leaves Spectators Drooling

Lewis Dare was at his magical best with sixteen three figure scores during a 10-1 win for Octagon A over their B team rivals in the Monday Premier League.

The large haul included one of two maximums as teammate Dave Pethick notched the other whilst Lee Hellings supported Dare well with thirteen tons of his own.

Pethick's effort came in a 3-2 win that featured one of four 18 darters for his team and a 100 checkout from Steve Jones, which was the highest of the contest overall.

The other legs in 18 were from Paul Palmer in his 3-1 win, Simon Washington who went on to win by the same score line and Alfie Ford who won by the odd leg in five.

Hellings 3-0 singles win was helped along by a brace of 16 darters whilst Dare won his singles game 3-2 with legs in 14 and just 11 darts.

Scott Cook's two maximums and 100 outshot helped him to twelve tons personally and a 10-1 team win for Victory B over Bluebird C.

Cook's checkout was matched by Paddy Archibald who also joined Cook in the maximum column; one of five to do so.

Paul Goundry notched a fourth for his team whilst Glenn Austin and Glenn Halford added an effort each for the defeated team.

Halford added ten more tons to take his personal total to eleven but was blown away by an inspired Cook (27.33) during their singles rubber; the latter winning 3-0 thanks to legs of 16 and 18 darts.

That brilliant display overshadowed another good performance from Cook's teammate Anthony Pearn who won 3-1 with a brace of 18 dart legs.

Runaway leaders Tradesmans secured all 11 points on offer with an emphatic win over Victory A that included four maximums; one each from John Mann, Jaden Whitting, Andy Bates and Fred Goldsmith.

Mann top scored with eleven tons whilst Goldsmith added a 114 checkout to his ten ton haul; one of a trio of three figure out shots in the match.

Bates bagged himself a 102 checkout with the highest of all coming from Shaun Dring's 121 finish that came in a 2-0 doubles success with John Mann; the pair winning in 23 and 18 darts for a 29.32 average.

The individual phase was also speckled with short legs as Whitting got proceedings under way with a 16 darter in his 3-1 victory whilst Goldsmith won by the same score line thanks in part to a leg in 18.

Danny Bull finished a stunning 12 dart leg with the highest finish of the week; a fine 151 checkout in Indian Inn's 7-4 win over Bluebird A.

That moment of magic beat a 125 checkout for Alan Masters who also managed a brace of 180s and legs in 15 and 18 darts during his 3-0 success for the defeated team.

The other maximums in the tie came from Danny and Harry Bull for the victors whilst Harry Bull also managed a 15 darter in a 3-2 triumph in the individual phase of play.

George Beckett added ten tons to the scoreboard, including a high finish of 133, during Cherry Tree B's 7-4 success over Bluebird B.

There was a 180 a piece for each team as Wayne Oddie and Kev Doel both struck whilst Jamie Roberts' crucial 18 darter in his 3-2 triumph was only usurped by a leg in 15 for Beckett in a 3-0 win.

Union Inn's visit to Brewery Tap was roaring success as the Plympton team won 7-4 with Nick Furneaux leading the way with ten tons.

Dan Giles notched the only maximum, as well as legs in 17 and 16 darts during a 3-2 singles win whilst teammate Nathan Langdon added a 17 darter in his 3-2 defeat to Nick WIlls.

Wills checked a critical leg in one visit from 117 during that close tie and added a 15 dart leg to take the close fought matchup.

Wills also paired with Lewis Byrne to take a 601 leg in just 16 darts which helped the pair to a 2-1 win in that phase of play.

A 6-5 victory for King Billy over Cherry Tree A was decided by the final tie of the contest by Andrew Cook who added one of two maximums during the match; teammate Matt Chegwin with the other.

Two Cherry Tree players reached ten tons as Paul Freeman and Matt Nicholson achieved the feat; the former doing so with the help of a 115 checkout the bettered a 107 Dave Harbin of the Devonport team.
