Porters remain top with the finishing line in sight

PORTERS A remain defiant in their quest of the Plymouth & District Friday League title and still top the table, as well as having a match in hand over their championship rivals.

Second placed Kings Tamerton CC won 12-1 against Indian B only for the tabletoppers to match them with victory away at Maritime B.

Pete James (100x12) top scored and Harry Bull was on target with a brace of 180s while Antony Hayman (30.33) equalled the week’s best game.

He secured his singles in 33 darts, after having started with an opening 12-dart salvo that scored 480 points.

An outshot of 130 by Neal Hotchkiss was the highlight of Steam Packet B’s 10-3 win against Porters C but the mark was beaten for the week’s highest checkout award when Rob Leay took out a finish of 147, inspiring Brookside to a 9-4 defeat of Waterloo C.

Mike O’Brien (100x12) top scored for The Tradesman, but finished up on the wrong end of an 8-5 scoreline when they were defeated by Royal Naval Arms A.

Andy Bates hit three more maximums to take his 180 haul for the season to 33 and now has a substantial lead over The Windmill duo of Mark Shears (26) and Steve Marker (25).

Paul Barclay (30.33) equalled the week’s best game when hitting four 140s in a 33-dart leg as Octagon won away at Royal Naval Arms B with the loss of just a point.

Waterloo A achieved the same winning margin on their visit to Stoke Bar and Grill and City Social won 8-5 at The Windmill, while Maritime A and GWRSA (Laira), both won 9-4 against Porters B, for whom Malcolm Matlock made a kill of 104, and Jolly Miller respectively.
