Porters A open up a three-point advantage over rivals

PORTERS A have opened up a three-point advantage over the chasing pack after securing all but one of the 13 points that were on offer away at Waterloo C.

The highlight of the match was a 36-dart singles success for Alex Turner, giving him a 27.81 average.

MAXIMUM MAN: Paul Gavican notched two maximum scores before going on to clinch a doubles game in 31 darts with partner Louis Yates, to claim the week's top average of 32.29.

Glyn Wells (28.81) also achieved a win in 36 and team mate Shaun Williams equalled the week’s top checkout of 100 but those performances were not enough to prevent City Social from an 8-5 defeat away at Steam Packet B.

Paul Barclay was also on target with a kill of 100 but he finished up on the wrong end of an 8-5 scoreline when Octagon Social Club were defeated by their next door neighbours The Tradesman.

Two maximums from Mark Shears was the highlight of The Windmill’s 11-2 victory over Steam Packet A while Indian Inn A achieved the same winning scoreline when defeating The Fawn.

The Stoke side had Mike Whatley and Steve Ebsworth clinching their doubles in 35 (28.60), before their team mates Paul Gavican and Louis Yates, won theirs in 31, for the week’s top average of 32.29.
