THE chasing pack are still looking up to Porters Patriots who sit at the top of the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League with a 15-point lead and a game in hand.
Their credentials were tested though away at Maritime Misfits when, in week 16, the hosts came from 3-0 down to lose by the odd game of 11 in a high-scoring fixture that produced 133 scores of a ton or more.
John Mann (100x16) was taken to a deciding leg by Dan Johnson before winning 3-2 and he was well supported by Antony Hayman who won 3-1 in 16, 14 and 17.
Dan Scott (30.06) won 3-0 for Maritime in 16, 16 and 18 and Billy Evans hit two 15-darters in a 3-1 win before Scott Hutchinson (100x14) was also a 3-1 winner in 20, 17 and 18.
BLOOMING MARVELLOUS: Paul Flower won the deciding leg of the final singles which gave Brookside a 6-5 victory away at Maritime Marauders, despite trailing 5-2.
Fawn B defeated City Social 10-1 but the whitewash was denied them when Glyn Wells won 3-0, aided by a leg in 14.
Fawn B kept up their winning run in week 17 when they edged out Octagon Social Club 6-5 but not before Alfie Ford and Tony Lamerton earned the plaudits when they won their 601 doubles in 18 and 19 for 32.49 average.
Porters Patriots restricted Plympton Cons to a single point but the visitors played a lot better than the scoreline would suggest and recorded 51 tons against Patriots 65, who were led by Antony Hayman (100x17), Andy Bates (100x15) and Malcolm Johns (100x15).
Brookside make an outstanding recovery away at Maritime Marauders and came from 5-2 down to win a pulsating last singles when, with the scoreline at 5-5, and Jason Pinkerton and Paul Flower were locked at 2-2, Flower kept his nerve to win the fifth leg and his team a 6-5 victory.
Dave Jones (120) had the highest checkout in week 16 followed in week 17 by Dave Clemson (148).
